Santa Cruz

We went to Santa Cruz, um. . . two weeks ago. (I'm in the middle of reorganizing my photos, and also trying to decide what I want to use as a photo editor. iPhoto doesn't do collages like Picasa, so you get full-size pics of everything this time. Lucky you!)

It was the first trip to the beach for us this summer (actually I think it was the first day of autumn), and the weather was perfect. Eighty degrees or so with lots of sunshine and a slight breeze. We'd also never been to this particular beach before. It's only an hour or so away -- I'm sad we didn't discover it sooner!

View of the boardwalk.

Sorry, Ivy.

Steve's attempts at building a sand castle were futile.

No, I wasn't posing. Steve stood there and kept taking pics of stuff, so I started to ignore him. Oh, and Ivy refuses to keep anything on her head. She ended up falling asleep like that on my lap -- even when a few waves soaked us with ice-cold water. Not a peep out of her.

I'm leaning toward iPhoto because of the zit it let me erase in this photo. It was right between my eyes, but you'd never know.

W wants me to tell you that you can still use Picasa for Macs. And he recommends it.

Oh man, I'm so hideously jealous, I can't even stand it. I grew up in Saratoga, and Los Gatos... Santa Cruz is my beach!! :( Living in West Texas vs. The Bay Area... not contest. I wanna go back!

Gorgeous family photos! And wooo hooo for erasing zits! I do it all the time :) What is wrong with the world, that at our age, we still get zits?

If I looked that hot in a swimsuit, I'd totally pose too ;) Don't deny it!
That looks like it must have been the perfect, crowd-free day in Santa Cruz. I love that beach. The summer I got baptized, I think the youth took a trip out there once or twice a week. The last time we went was when Asher was 7 months old.

W - I installed it, but when I was going back and forth between iPhoto and Picasa it told me that I would need to make a separate copy of the photos I was working on. I don't want two copies of everything! So... I think I have to chose one. I like iPhoto a lot, but there are a few things that it can't do. I'm also thinking of getting Photoshop Elements.

Marisa - Hideously jealous... LOL. Does your family still live there? Do you ever come visit? I'd drop everything and go to the beach for a playdate with you!

Chelsea - Actually this was the first time I'd used the retouch feature period. :)

Looks like a great time. I haven't been to Santa Cruz since I was in 6th grade and my aunt lived in Lodi. *sigh* Wishing for warmer weather up here. It snowed/rained all day. Enjoy your warm sunny days!

We don't have family in CA anymore (they were the ones who suckered us into moving to TX - sucker!), but our friends are all still there. We went back two years ago, but haven't been back since - airfare for 4 is ridiculous!

I'll let you know when we do, though!

I'm so jealous. We loved going to the beaches. And eighty degree weather.

I've told some friends here about your food blog and they all rave about it. Just spreading the good news. I love it too by the way!

Jessica - I miss snow :) But after I'm in it for more than 24 hours, I miss the 60 degree winters.

And thanks for spreading the word! Hopefully in a few years I'll be able to give away a Kitchen-Aid mixer. :)
