Goodbye Poundage

As of Saturday, February 2nd, 2008, I have officially lost all 60 pounds of my pregnancy weight. The last five pounds took 3 months to lose (well worth the goodies) and during the last week and a half, I've been wrestling with the last half pound. At that point I'd basically lost all the weight, but I hated seeing that .5 on my scale, mocking me.

Every morning I'd jump on to see if it was gone and then try all of my antics to make it go down (removing all clothes, jewelry, bodily waste, and not eating or drinking anything until the weigh-in.) On Saturday morning I jumped on the scale and Mr .5 was still there. AHHH! I decided, as a desperate last resort, to take my glasses off and put my contacts in. Then I jumped back on the scale. Mr. .5 WAS GONE! Hallelujah.

Just for fun, here are before and after shots in the same shirt:

I'm no Miss America, but anything is better than the Why-the-heck-is-my-stomach-still-huge-after-I-just-gave-birth belly. And yes, that was right after Sophie was born. We were in our parking lot after coming home from the hospital. I'm still wearing my pretty plastic bracelets. All I have to say is THANK YOU NURSING.

Speaking of Sophie, I can't believe how big she looks now compared to when we brought her home. And look at the way her body is shaped. She went from being curled up in a ball to flailing her arms and legs around all the time.

Wow! Congrats! I still have what I like to call "mission weight". I, like many who served in Las Vegas, gained about 100 pounds on my mission and never really worked at trying to lose it. Anyway, I finally got tired of it enough to want to do something about it, so started a diet about 2 weeks ago and have lost 11 pounds so far. Reading your blog post gives me even more encouragement. Thanks! And congrats again.

Nat, you look fantastic! I never lost the last five pounds with Charlie, until baby number two was on the way, that is! We'll see how it goes this time around ...

congrats on the last half pound, Nat! I need to get on the motivation train and start working in that same direction. When I started working here I weighed SOOOO much less...it's saddening.

Anyways, you look fabulous!

Congratulations! You make me jealous. I still have 15 pounds to go, and the needle on the scale won't budge anymore! What's your secret?

Well nursing is a biggie, and trying to find a balance between eating too much and eating too little. I didn't really change the food I ate. About a month ago I started the PACE program (by Al Sears...Missy, Heather, and Tagen are doing it, too.) I don't have the book, but I can explain it to you sometime :)

If you search on Amazon for "PACE", it's the first book that pops up.

Lookin Good!! Isn't it incredible how much you can change so quickly? You're dead on about nursing - thank goodness for that. It's frightening what 9 months of pregnancy can do to a body!

I told you nursing was a miracle! That's a great reason to recommend it to people (the health benefits for the baby are good too. . . I guess)

So here's a non-mommy perspective . . . when is Sophie going to be up to 60 lbs? In my "I've never had this experience" mind, I'm thinking any mom has at least that long before she has to feel bad about birth weight.
